Nothing to say about my own father or stepfather, but I want to applaud all the good men out there who are wonderful fathers, stepfathers, or guardians to the next generation. Know that you are greatly appreciated.
Thanks for saying a kind word. In years past, this was the day that men would go to church and get a beat down from the pulpit. Having gotten through that “Dad” would go home and try to relax watching a little TV. Turn it on and the President of the United States would be giving another beat down on all the major networks.
AAAAARGH!!!
I have heard that it has tapered of since. No sense alienating all the men when it is to no good.
This year is the first, that I have noticed, so many women bloggers writing short, simple posts wihig dads a Happy Father’s Day.
It’;s hopeful.
Had a lovely day with my youngest (25 year old) daughter, the one (of two) who is still talking to me after I left their mother after suffering through a loveless marriage for more that a quarter century. (Yeah, I know, it’s MY fault since I “picked her.” Ugh…the stupid things people say to you…)
Wish I had a father to honor and respect, but mine never had a word of praise or affection for me or my brother. Haven’t had contact with him in over thirty years and hopefully never will.
I never let my daughter leave without hugging her and telling her that I love her. I can never know what day will be my last (and I’m healthy), so that’s the best insurance for her memory of me.
Thank you to all the men who have died, have suffered, have sacrificed, so that others may have a better, safer life. You are the unappreciated backbone of society.
